OUR MISSION: To develop a ministry team that communicates poignant situations which convey spiritual truths. This will be accomplished through the use of drama, comedy, media, and other art forms. OUR PURPOSE: - To enhance the worship experience
- To nurture and develop the spiritual and creative gifts and talents of team members through ministry, productions, in-group rehearsals, exercises, classes, and overall experiences.
OUR PHILOSOPHY: To strive for excellence as we share our God-given gifts and talents through the avenue of a drama team: actors, stage crew, and administration. OUR REQUIREMENTS: Members of the drama team must be a voting member of First Christian Church. Age range includes High School age and above. There will be times where younger children will be asked to join our team for a specific performance and the corresponding rehearsals. OUR REHEARSALS: We will meet once a week, though additional rehearsals will be added for specific performances for the actors of those performances.
Rehearsals are mandatory, with the exception of serious illness or death in the family. In order to give the Lord and His church our best, rehearsals must be a priority. Please give appropriate notice of your impending absence.
Promptness is of utmost importance. In order to complete all of our activities and rehearsal in order to dismiss on time, we need to begin on time. Please do your part.
Rehearsals will include: prayer and a time of connection with the Lord through His Word preparation for upcoming productions/rehearsals (require outside memorization of lines, scenes, etc) classes of instruction, encouragement, and inspiration practical experience through the performance of scenes, improvisations, and related exercises within the group team-building work
FAMILY ATMOSPHERE: It is our desire to foster a family and team atmosphere, developing a community that will not only nurture the talent of each individual, but will encourage growth and acceptance of each member. SPIRITUAL LIFE: Each team member’s spiritual life affects the entire team. We strongly encourage each member to attend Sunday morning service on a regular basis. We also believe that a life grounded in daily personal Bible study/reading and prayer gives us an abundance from which to draw our strength, both individually and collectively. AUDITION is not a dirty word! You will not have to prepare anything for to audition. There will be a succession of two (2) auditions for those trying out for the acting team only. The first will be as a group. It will include fun and completely non-threatening activities. The second, at a separate time, will be simple readings in groups of twos, as well as a personal interview. Anyone wishing to be involved in behind-the-scenes work will just need to sign up for an interview. We look forward to meeting you. We can’t wait to get started.
