Sonflower Scouts Update Happy New Year! We hope you have had a wonderful and relaxing holiday break. We are looking forward to beginning some new activities at Sonflower Scouts, along with the completion of our previous activities. So…here is some IMPORTANT INFORMATION for you! - Thanks to all the girls and their families for all their hard work during our fundraiser. The girls created and sold nearly 400 jars!!! Thanks to YOU, we raised over $1,500 to help pay for our badges and Father-Daughter Banquet!
- On January 26, your daughter should come home with a half-sheet of paper detailing how she is progressing toward her badges. Please look for this paper, and encourage her to complete her activities. Download Sonflower Scouts BLOOM Chart (PDF) and Sonflower Service Pages (PDF) here.
- In February, you will be contacted if you still need to earn family points. There are still MANY opportunities to earn points.
- Please remember that both January AND February have unusual meeting dates due to holidays. Meeting dates are: January 5 and 26, February 2 and 23.
- We have appreciated your generous “trash” donations in the past, and now we are in need of empty, clean 2-liter pop bottles with their lids for a future craft. If you could help out, please drop them off at the sign-in desk.
We will soon be completing our Native American Unit. The girls have enjoyed learning about different cultures and their similarities and differences to each other and to us. Our next unit is titled “Go Green!” The girls will be learning about how to care for God’s Earth through recycling, planting, making green choices, composting, reusing, and much more. And finally, our annual Father-Daughter Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 6-8 PM. Please mark your calendars now. This is a fun and memorable evening for both the girls and the men. Remember, the girls can invite ANY important man in their lives; grandpa, uncle, or family friend. We want all girls to feel comfortable and included, and there have always been many girls attending with men who are not “Dad.” Male role models are important in the lives of girls, and this is a wonderful opportunity to reinforce that bond.
